TRADITIONS

Love. Honor. Tradition.
Miami University Traditions is a student run campus organization that works to connect past and current students with the love we share for Miami. Our goal is to celebrate the history of Miami while helping current students create their own memories during their time at Miami. We plan Charter Day Ball, the largest student planned event on campus that celebrates the chartering of Miami, and so much more!

Our Mission
To celebrate Miami's history
To connect past and present students
To help students make the most of their time at Miami
To host an incredible Charter Day Ball
Charter Day Ball
The Charter Day Ball is an event hosted every three years by MU Traditions to celebrate the charting of Miami University on February 17, 1809. Miami's first chartering day celebrations began in 1916 as a Founder's Day celebration and went through several transitions before becoming Miami's Charter Day Ball. Today the ball is held at Millett Hall and draws in thousands of attendees each ball.

Our Story
MU Traditions was created in 2020 to take over what used to be known as the Charter Day Ball committee. We still plan, organize, and host the Charter Day Ball every three years, but as a full organization are now more involved and active in student life on campus.
